Summer Band 2023

Antelope Band Members:
 
Welcome to Summer Band 2023!!!  Please read the dates and times carefully.   Join the remind group (listed in this letter) as soon as possible to avoid missing any important information.  A band events schedule is included.  Make sure you keep the contest and performance dates open. Attendance at these events is non-negotiable.  If there is a question, please contact Mr. Knight as soon as possible—298-4904 (school) or 778-6258 (cell). 
 
Please read each schedule carefully.
 
WORK DAY—HELP NEEDED:
Anyone interested in helping sort horns, copy music, etc., Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28, 9:00-3:00.  J  Come for an hour or two or stay the whole day.  Free help is NEVER turned down!!!!! J  Again, anyone who wants to help is welcome.  Bring your talents; we’ll put you to work!  WE HAVE TO BE READY TO GO BY THE 31st for our new marchers, SO COME READY TO WORK FAST! We will finish our “workday” for the masses Monday before our new-marcher session that evening.
 
TWIRLERS:
Mrs. Liess should be in touch with you about twirling camp.  We will contact you if anything varies from that.
 
COLOR GUARD:  all members will ALSO be required to attend the evening rehearsals with the full band unless instructed otherwise by Mrs. Knight or one of the other directors.
July 31 & August 1       9:30a-12:00p, 6:00-9:00                        
August 2                       9:30a-12:00p, 4:00-5:30                        
August 3-4                    9:30a-12:00p, 6:00-9:00                        
August 7-11                  follow full band schedule
 
All summer dates after the two-a-day week will follow the band schedule.  Extra rehearsals will come through Mrs. Knight.

LEADERSHIP: We are discussing a leadership workshop but do not have a date nailed down.  More information will be available as we get closer to the date.  Again, watch the website, Facebook, and Remind.
 
BAND:
First year marchers (freshmen, upper classmen who have not marched before) 
Monday, July 31 from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.  There will be a surprise at the end! J
Leaders, we need you Monday, July 31st to help teach. Be at the band hall at 6:00 p.m.
 
 
PLEASE REMEMBER ALL SUMMER BAND IS MANDATORY. 
If you have a conflict, please contact Mr. Knight BEFORE the absence. Missing summer band may result in the student having to make up missing time or not being charted in the show.
 



FULL SUMMER BAND REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
 
FULL BAND: all full band rehearsals are evenings (not morning)

Monday, July 31--Freshman/New Marcher Orientation--7:00-8:30
 
Tuesday, August 1--Full Band 6-9 PM
 
Wednesday, August 2--Junior/Senior Uniforms—2:00-3:30
                                     --Full Band 4:00-5:30
 
Thursday, August 3--Full Band 6-9 PM

Friday, August 4--Full Band 6-9 PM

Monday, August 7--8:30-- Faculty Perf—Convocation—full band required. 
                                            
Twirlers and Color guard required as well.
                              --Freshman/Sophomore (and anyone who hasn’t gotten theirs) Uniforms--
                                             after performance to 11:30

 
                              --7:00-9:00—Full Band
 
Tuesday, August 8--7:00-9:00-Full Band
 
Wednesday, August 9--4:00-5:30—Full Band
 
 Thursday, August 10--7:00-8:00—Meet the Lopes
                     (Full Band, football, cheer, & managers bring horns to play during band feature)

Friday, August 11--Scrimmage--no rehearsal

 
August 7---“Back to School” performance for faculty—arr. 8:30, perform 9:00 a.m.
August 10th—Meet the Lopes (It is a Thursday).  It will be an evening event.  It is required.   
 
Our first ball game is set for August 25 IN Childress.  Plan on rehearsing each Monday night beginning August 21st (no rehearsal September 4—holiday). ALL GAMES AND REHEARSALS ARE REQUIRED.  Please plan accordingly.  NOTE: We will rehearse Monday, Oct. 9.  That is a school holiday, but right before contest.  We will have a meal that evening before rehearsal.

MUST HAVE FORMS--All forms must be returned to the band hall.  The Physical Form must be on file before the student is allowed to rehearse.  The Drug Testing Consent Form and the HS Travel Permission Slip must be returned before the student is allowed to travel.  All students who have their forms turned in before the OFFICIAL  first day of school (August 16) will be placed in a drawing for a couple or three different gift cards.....
