The Abernathy HS Band is making plans for a great fall. The kids are very excited. We look forward to great things!! "The Light Eternal" should be lots of fun. We are looking forward to sharing it with you!

IT IS ALMOST TIME!!!! Holy cow! Where did summer go?????
We want to get you schedules as soon as possible so you can plan those last minute get-aways, work schedules, etc. All rehearsals are required, and any time missed will be made up. A band events schedule is also included. Please make sure you keep the contest and performance dates clear. If there is a question, please contact Mr. Knight as soon as possible—298-4904 (school) or 778-6258 (cell). We are starting earlier than some other groups on Campus because our first performance is Aug 9th!! Please read the schedule below carefully.
Social Donations is $20.00 – This is used for your band shirt, water, and other social events during the year. This fee goes up to $25.00 after Oct. 1st. A drawing for prizes will be held Aug 4th for those who have paid. Be the first section to have your donations paid for!!

WORK DAY—HELP NEEDED: Anyone interested in helping sort horns, copy music, etc., Monday and Tuesday, July 31 and Aug1st, 9:00-3:00. Come for an hour or two or stay the whole day. Free help is NEVER turned down!!!!! J Again, anyone who wants to help is welcome. Bring your talents; we’ll put you to work! WE HAVE TO BE READY TO GO BY THE NIGHT OF THE 31st for our new marchers, SO COME READY TO WORK FAST!
TWIRLERS: Mrs. Liess should be in touch with you about twirling camp. We will contact you if anything varies from that.
COLOR GUARD: Mrs. Muse should be in touch with you about color guard times. Plan to begin August 1. We are still working on coordinating Mrs. Muse and Tobie’s schedules. This will be posted on the website as well so you may access the information without a phone. As we are typing this, Mrs. Muse is at math convention, and Tobie is still in Smithville. I (Mrs. K) or Mrs. Muse will get with you soon!!! We will also have a special called rehearsal to welcome Tobie in style once she gets to Tech! J

August 9---“Back to School” performance for faculty—8:30 a.m. (tentative time) August 21 or 22—Meet the Lopes. It will be an evening event. It is required. I have been given two different dates for this event. We will have “Meet the Lopes” one night and rehearsal the other.

We are enclosing some forms the parents need to fill out and return. We MUST get these back. They are an eight hour compliance form, a drug testing form, and a permission slip for travel. I will also have a form that gets basic information so we can send a google form that will allow them to do all of their contact info online if they wish. All of these forms will also be posted on the website.
